PrEvalence of Acute and Chronic kidnEy disease treated by renal replacement therapy in the ICU Environment (PEACE)

PEACE is a prospective international, multi-centre, prevalence study on the epidemiology of the use of renal replacement therapy for ICU patients who have acute kidney injury and chronic end stage kidney disease which is being run by ESICM

It aims to:

  • Assess the prevalence of severe AKI and CKD in ICU patients

  • Assess modalities of RRT used for treatment of AKI

  • Assess indications for initiation of RRT

  • Assess who is performing RRT

  • Assess the severity of illness at the time of data collection

  • Assess the renal outcomes and ICU, hospital, 30-day and 90-day mortality

Study data collection took place on one of two days (25th March & 22nd April 2015) with patients being followed up to 90 days.
